Learn more about Controls Engineer Tim Valley in this Northfield Automation Systems staff spotlight!
Describe working at Northfield Automation Systems in three words.
Unique. Challenging. Professional.
What is the best part about working at Northfield Automation Systems?
No two days are ever the same. The programming, troubleshooting, mechanical and electrical … I was built for this! It’s easy to do what you love doing. Not having to commute also helps.
What is your role at Northfield Automation Systems?
I am officially a controls engineer. Some of my other roles include test, failure analysis, IT, debugging, assembly and field service.
How long have you worked at Northfield Automation Systems?
One year. My biggest regret is that I didn’t discover Northfield Automation Systems 20 years ago!
What do you do in your free time?
Travel, read, swim, hike, bike and volunteer. Tinker with “fun” programming, electronics and home automation. I enjoy helping family, friends and non-profits/churches with my IT and programming skills.
What would somebody be surprised to find out about you?
It’s a hard question – I’m pretty much an open book. Maybe that I worked in radio/TV broadcast automation for most of my life before finally working on REAL Automation!
What is the coolest technology/technological gadget you’ve ever seen or read about (real or imagined)?
Besides some of the technology we’re deploying at NAS … NEST Doorbell. It shows me who’s at my front door in real time and even recognizes faces – all on my Apple Watch!
